our story

meet your new friends in Radda

Born and bred in the region, Fabrizio evokes a dazzling passion for his native land. His  work experience in the United States as a young man only served to enforce his conviction.  Following his heart, he returned to Tuscany and purchased a small corner bar in his home  town. It was here, five years later, that he met Carolyn, his British wife and business partner.  With its warm hospitality and fabulous floral terrace, Bar Dante would become a buzzing  wine bar, doubling in size and popularity over four decades. Clients still recall the legendary bruschetta.

Following his passion and knowledge of wine, Enoteca Toscana was opened ‘next door’. Today, it is now the focus of Fabrizio’s and Carolyn’s combined passions.

Music, art and literature go hand in hand with the family vibe. Enoteca Toscana is an experience. It is an opportunity to learn about the local wines, or course, but it is so much more. Walk in and you have new friends excited to share their history, local stories, traditional food, wine ‘backstories’, art, music and more. While you may leave with a wine perfectly paired to your preferences or a bottle of ‘buon olio’, you depart having made a local connection and friends you will want to visit again.

Fabrizio and Carolyn are warm and welcoming. Fabrizio is a formal wine collector and keeps a close eye on wine futures. You can also enjoy a conversation about cars and cigars with him! Carolyn is an accomplished author whose writings are just as warm and witty as she is in person. She is always happy to sign copies of her amusing Tuscan memoir, Life Behind The Bar. Both enjoy music and you will find the shop simply by following your ears to the great (and perhaps eclectic!) music radiating from the shop throughout Radda.

Keeping with the theme of sharing hobbies, interests - and their lives in general - the couple’s artistic  daughter, Francesca, provides an exclusive range of original prints and postcards. Great pieces of art to remind you of your time in Tuscany.

In 2025, after forty years behind the counter, Bar Dante was sold to enable the family to devote more time to Enoteca Toscana. Customers old and new are continually welcomed to the Ferrucci world and tastings and wine classes can be arranged on request.
